Up until today I paid little attention to the stimulus checks that are supposedly going out, but today I started doing a little research to find out if and when I would get a check. I went here (http://www.irs.gov/app/espc/) and worked through the forms. I don't qualify. It didn't say why. I guess I'm not rich enough or well connected enough. If I was still in my old job and making a big fat salary, then I would be opening a government check right now. But since I actually NEED the money, I don't get anything. Well, fuck 'em.
I'm so fucking sick of these Republican assholes I could puke. I hope every single one of them gets their asses booted out. ANYBODY would be better than what we have now!
Am I bitter? Maybe a little.
Have a good day everyone.

I got mine... and I'm a poor as a churchmouse. The only connection I have is a friend who works at H&R Block. Possibly if you had started earlier, you could have gotten it. Government incompetence knows no party and we all beg for change, but bitch when we get it.

Um. . .I got mine, like I said. My brother and a former fuck buddy got theirs too and they are by no means rich. Not everything is a class warfare situation, Fran.

That's a political interpretation of history, and as someone who still loves that discipline, it is an incomplete view.
Stand by it, fine - - but it's like standing by a brick and declaring it the entire building.

The only requirements are that you
1. Are a resident of the U.S.
2. Aren't a tax write off for someone else ... i.e. means you file your own taxes and aren't a dependant of someone else.
3. Have a social security number
Seems pretty simple unless you're not a resident or you're a student and your parents claim you on their taxes.

May be true in some cases, but everyone is different, thereby creating different situations and points of view. Just because one mayn't agree doesnt negate someone else's personal experience(s).
Stand by it, fine - - but it's like standing by a brick and declaring it the entire building.

No Taylor..it is an observation of history, an course its an incomplete view cos 2 complete wud take up more space than the net has far less this site. Yas not the only 1 who luffs the subject but the brick/buildin analogy is neitha relevant or astute.. it is but 1 brick of many wich in the end will condemn the buildin 2 ruin..

Taylor, I'm not quite sure what you mean about starting earlier. Should have filed my taxes earlier? Started working earlier? Started checking earlier? I doubt any of that makes a difference. Either I meet their criteria or I don't. It is what it is. Maybe I filled in the form wrong. Maybe I'll be surprised. I have no expectations.
In any case, I get PO'd about things like this, so I vent a little, and then I get over it. What difference does it make anyway? My dear, departed sister used to tell me that life isn't fair. (She was blinded by diabetes.) I try to remember that when I'm feeling beat up.

Thank you for conceding your view is incomplete, but you contradict yourself by dismissing my analogy. Either it's incomplete and very possibly inaccurate, or your have to allow for other possibilities and give a full picture to the situation at hand.
You can't say it's incomplete, but say it's the full picture.

I don't think the situation today is so much class warfare as it is treating the population as an exploitable, throwaway commodity. It is very similar to the mining companies that go into a community and ravage the countryside, extracting the riches and leaving it poisoned and unproductive. Big companies are strip mining the wallets and purses of the working people with things like usury credit card rates and unmanageable mortgages. It's having a damaging impact on the people and communities being exploited. The government not only doesn't stop it, but encourages it. I think that is one big reason that resentment is growing. People just don't think that government is on their side.
Energy prices are another place where people think the government is failing them, although I personally feel that the government has little control over prices. It does have control over policies and incentives for usage and efficiencies, and for research and development of alternative energies. But again, people see very little being done to help them.
I think people are getting fed up, and there is an anti-government, anti-conservative backlash brewing in the country right now. The country is swinging toward a more liberal, and I would say more progressive way of thinking, and I'm all for it. But, then, in 8 or 12 years feelings will swing back again. And so it goes.

I won't be getting mine because all my extra money i.e. my tax return, stimulus package check will be going to my ex wife for child support.
She lied to the child support office and left me with $20,000 arrears.
Funny thing is that she is getting a $6000 tax return this year.
And YES I hate the fucking bitch

Class warfare is not most of history. History has so many other conflicts besides that one, Fran. And to chalk up most of it to that is narrow.
I don't know why you tried to obscure the point with the Nazi analogy, but it makes as little sense as your English.

I already spent it.
I am SO patriotic!
What did I buy!
LOVE of course!
No, not what you think!

Of course, I would have spent the money anyway.
I did not need to get the rebate to spend on LOVE.

Yeah, any earned income (over $3000 as you say, I think) gets stimulus. If you didn't earn that much, I THINK you'll still be able to claim the stimulus tax credit for 2008 wages earned (April 15, 2009).
Last I saw, the actual check is sent out based on either your first or last two social security number digits (I don't remember which). I haven't gotten mine but am expecting in 1st or 2nd week of June. If you've been living on savings/untaxed retirement, holy crap, I think you may be screwed. At first, I thought the wage min was to keep kids from claiming the stimulus... I didn't give it much thought. But damn, if it excludes folks living on savings and social security... that sucks... rather horribly...
But I'm sure you've looked deeper into this... this kind of oversight would whip up some loud controversy, especially from AARP.

*Taylor*Nope it aint...most of history is bout lil peeps tryin 2 struggle along an make the best of ther lives.. often tho that evolves inta struggle gainst eitha ther social and/or political masters..ergo..class warfare.. ya don hav ta pik up guns 2 hav a war... it still goin on...an will for long time 2 cum...

That just about sums it up Blue. Living on savings..and student loans... that's me. I have decided that there are people who need this stimulus money much more than I do. There are a lot of working wounded out there. I have tuned my living style down to the point where I happily live on practically nothing. It was my choice. Hopefully this student thing won't last forever.
Our president has screwed up this economy so badly that he now has to hand out checks to keep things going. That's bad. I was told by a guy in the real estate business at least a year before the bubble burst that big trouble was coming. I saw it and I was able to sell my house and get out before the trouble hit. And anyone with eyes and a brain should have been able to see this energy problem coming, especially someone like the president who is surrounded by advisors and experts. My GF, who continues to amaze me with her wisdom, said a while back that he surrounds himself with "yes men" who don't tell him the truth and who keep him in the dark. Boy, ain't that the truth.
