There is a lot of support on this forum but not many discussions about the risk of STD.
Over the years we have been very careful whom we met. We would spend time getting to know someone & we would request a blood test. Unfortunately, someone who didn’t know they have it infected us both with herpes this year. Fortunately there are suppressants available, which keep it in check, so we are not bothered by it, however, it has significantly changed how we live & love with others.
It is not part of the STD blood test profile & can be transmitted even with condoms. 90% of people who have it don't know. BE VERY CAREFUL!

Thank you for sharing this with everyone. It's true most don't think of the consequences until it's too late. You're proof that even with precautions it's not always full proof.
Thanks again!

Hi Bi: Thank you for your forum topic. Unfortunately, my last forum input caused a lot of furor, and part of my input was about how the intense sexual drive can cause people to throw caution to the wind. I'm glad you brought the herpes issue up: herpes, unless during the active stage is invisible-but, can be transmitted. It can have devastating results, especially if, based on what I read on the website, a married person engags in a sexual experience then passes it on to his/her mate. STDs cover a whole range of diseases all the way on up to HIV. One disease that's not talked about much is hepatitis C. The problem with hepatitis is that it can cause cirrhosis of the liver years later and can cause liver cancer. Again, thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the understanding comments. We were hesitant to make the post but thought it is important for everyone to think twice...think three times before sharing sexual intimacy. We wish we had.
We have been married for 36 years & had the same doctor for years. It was hard going to him for the diagnosis.

This is interesting. I had a friend get molluscum from a guy who massaged him.
I always kind of worry about getting oral from someone I dont know since their mouth sores could transmit it.

Hello bicpl
its sad to know that even with your precautions, you still got a diasease that has changed your lifestyle!
my heart really does go out to the both of you, as i have been rethinking how to go about a bi lifestyle more safely and i guess you are proof that one can never be too safe!
thank you for sharing your story (i use story for lack of a better word)
its something we all need to hear and it hits home even more when it comes from someone who has gone through this and is living with it

Just want to thank everyone for the support. Just want you to know that we ran an ad on another site in which we say we have herpes. We have had numerous responses saying, 'So do I', but not one of those who responded include that in their ad...Be VERY VERY careful!

Again, thank you for the original post and especially for this particular follow up. That you have included your status in your ad is amazing and brave. And the absolute right thing to do. I hope others take your lead and do the same.
