i am a gmail user plus i used to use chrome as my browser, and i used to sign into my browser with my gmail account when accessing the web.

a while back i discovered that if ur signed into google chrome with ur gmail account it will record EVERY single google search you have made in the past and feed it back to you. that means all ur google searches are logged.
does that worry anyone here?

the funny thing is.... google chrome sanitises ur search records. so its not necessarily a problem... or is it?
are they sanitising the report shown to u of ur searches or the logs themselves. i think the former.

for instance i KNOW that on this day in 2010 i was googling a new HDTV i wanted to buy at 9.32pm. the report tells me so. but i also remember this day (for other reasons) and i definitely definitely also did a few google searches for hardcore cream pie action, which does not show up. i looked further into it, and according to my report i have not googled any porn sites ever... hahahaahhaha!

im pure. google chrome says so.

im not naive enough to think google doesnt record everything and link to IP addresses. but thats different from linking google searches to email addresses!

I don't sign in with my g-mail, but it makes it very clear that it would love me to. Also loves to let me know that it knows where I've been too.lol

FF was great at the time. But it got really bad crashing and slowing down etc. I think they tried to make it do too much.
Chrome is pretty simple and doesn't overstretch itself.....at the mo.


Am not bothered about my browsing history being recorded. It can go straight to the CID, the gov and the Queen herself as far as I care.lol I doubt they'd care either, coz I'm not famous etc.
I would like to know what Angelina Jolie likes to flick her bean at when she's not filming tho. Could be interesting to know what ALL the stars like to browse.:tongue:

I'm in that situation about Chrome and google. I keep getting messages from people that I know who want me to confirm my google circle but have no memory of setting that up. All should know that google has extensive server farms throughout the USA that are each extremely large. They have kept record of every google search that have done in the server farms. They are so big that technicians use bicycles to get around to repair burned out hard drives (huge). Big Brother in the form of google has been here and connected to the CIA & FBI as well as other countries security systems for quite some time. It is expanding constantly. Each country censors your searches on google in their own way including the USA & Canada.

no u misunderstand. you cant delete the logs. google have the logs.
im not talking about browser history. theres nothing u can do to delete ur logged google searches.

Doesn't matter all information is for sale. There are no such a right as privacy in a digital age. My friend is a computer "forensic" expert. He showed me and told me no OS is safe. And had a macbookpro with many worms and such on it to prove a point.

im not espousing my right to privacy. i dont want more privacy. i just think it funny that google censor the fact that ive been googling porn all my life. dont censor the porn itself, just the fact ive been googling it. makes me laff. its like the reverse of the idea to ban porn. making it easier to google it anonymously. some would call that progress.

Dontcha think Ed Snowden has shown that privacy is nowadays, cobblers:confused: Don't think it matters how u use the net in 2013.. if the NSA and GCHQ wanna kno ur biz.. they will find outya biz.. big bruv is serpently upon us... so ne concerns bout Google Chrome really r pretty small fry and piffle... tween Google, MSN and Yahoo et al they have always bottled it wen faced by state power.. and didn't usually matter wich state eitha!! Not 2 sure if it will matter if they bottle it for much longer or not... the forces of the state will do wot it wants and get everything it needs methinks to do wot it likes.. and who it dusnt like...

You're probably right Darkeyes. Notice I said DuckDuckGo "claims" to do no logging or tracking. Of course I have no way to verify this, I can only take them at their word and what they publish in their privacy policy (https://duckduckgo.com/privacy). You're absolutely right that the only way to be certain is to not use the 'net at all. It's sad that it has come to this, but there are many things that we can do to make it more difficult for the NSA and the GCHQ, and if everybody did so it might help a little. BTW, I think Edward Snowden is a national hero. I hope that someday he can come home from Russia to the ticker tape parade that he deserves. I will probably end up on some kind of watch list for saying this ;)

Thanks for the link. Ya know, it continuously amazes me how we are always "opted IN" to things we would not ordinarily want, and then they hide the opt out buttons so we can't find them or don't even know we have reason to look for them. With all the corporate corruption and ID theft going on nowadays, it's not just Big Brother watching us anymore.

To a very high degree it is correct that no operating system is 100% secure, or safe. To another degree, if one is cautious using a Unix/Linux variant, one can get fairly close, maybe 90-97% secure. But, one has to be nearly paranoid in their vigil of catiousness, most general users are not. If honest I can include myself, silly me off line a week because of a distribution upgrade fouling bits. It happens, even to the best and I've never claimed being best by far. *chuckle* I might be crazy like a fox, a bit good but not the best.

You want the best? Go look up folks like Eric Raymond, Evi Nemeth, Dennis Ritchie, Ken Thompson, John McCarthy, Dan Gookin (simply because he writes so idiots like me can grasp the heavy techie stuff, and does it so well and with a bit of humor). Those are but a few of the best. I honestly would think any teacher whom teaches a pupil to think for themselves, would be among the best as well.
